The Student Support Worker would be assigned the following responsibilities as outlined by the Principal:
- promotion of a positive, healthy school environment
- manage attendance information
- assist with delivering social skills programming
- assist administration to liaise with families
- assist with transportation needs
- facilitate language translations, if possible

This is temporary position to commence September 4, 2012 and end December 4, 2012. There is an annual travel allowance for this position.

The successful candidate must possess:
- school experience (or related experience with children/youth)
- a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- cross-cultural experience
- good communication skills

STUDENT SERVICES CONSULTANT

Northern Lights School Division invites applications for a 1.0 F.T.E. Student Services Consultant starting August 29, 2012. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Superintendent of Education responsible for Student Services. They will work with a team of Student Services consultants and with school administrators and staff to provide leadership and support in the area of student emotional and social well-being to support success in school achievement. The position will be based in La Ronge but will require travel to schools in the central and east side of the school division (a driver’s license and vehicle are required).

Areas of responsibility include:

• Provide leadership and support for school division and school programs and initiatives for student supports (Student Services includes intensive needs, safe schools and interagency)
• Identify and facilitate connections with community, family and regional services and supports
• Provide training, mentoring and coaching for skills related to supporting student well-being
• Work as a team member to provide integrated support in collaboration with other consultants
• Participate in a case management service delivery model
Assets for the position:

• Post-graduate training in a relevant field (i.e. education, psychology), must qualify for teacher certification in Saskatchewan
• Experience in counselling, child development, or special or inclusive education
• Understanding of First Nations and Metis culture

The successful candidate will be required to perform scheduled and emergency repairs at schools and housing units.

Electrician candidates must have Saskatchewan journeyperson status. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC controls, intrusion/fire alarm systems and digital camera security systems would be considered an asset.
