The Twin Lakes Community School in Buffalo Narrows, Saskatchewan, requires the services of a dedicated and qualified Guidance Counsellor to work closely with a new administrative team. The program is supervised by the Deputy Director of Education. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Education degree (with acceptable Psychology or Educational Psychology classes). The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide assessment to students in a number of areas, to recommend program modifications for home and school. Other duties may involve participation and leadership in professional development for school staff, collaboration in program development with other school board personnel, case management, and record keeping.

Well-developed communication skills are essential to this position. This position involves extensive travel to various schools within the Northern Lights School Division #113 and a valid Canadian drivers license is required.

Academic qualifications include an appropriate degree in speech and language. Applicants must also be able to qualify for licensing with the Saskatchewan Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and membership with the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.

Cross Cultural experience as well as word processing skills would be assets.

Duties are to commence as soon as possible. However, over a longer term, we are very interested in financially assisting northerners, particularly aboriginal students/practitioners, in earning appropriate qualifications if they are interested in this career area.
